Heartburn is caused by acid reflux. Acid, which is produced
in your stomach flows upwards through the stomach and comes into contact with
your esophagus.
It is important to note, that your stomach produces extremely strong acids which
break down food that has been eaten. Your esophagus usually blocks this acid
from coming flowing back up with a wall or flap that opens and closes. In the
case when acid still occurs to get into your esophagus and heartburn is the past
effect, there some drugs which reduce the amount of the acid in your esophagus.
One of them is Aciphex. It is a short-term drug
which is used to treat cankers, heartburn, and some other gastrointestinal tract
disorder. It is an enteric-coated tablet, which should be taken orally. Before
taking the drug consult a doctor, because it cannot go together with the
following medicine: Nizoral, Omnipen, Principen, Feosol, Mol-Iron, Fergon, Lanoxin,
or Sandimmune, Neoral and others.
The side effects are quite rare, they are: rough breathing, allergic reaction
(lips/tongue swelling). If you have a headache, diarrhoea, insomnia, rash, nervousness,
consult your doctor.
Nexium is a drug that has the function to treat gastro esophageal
reflux disease. The drug can also prevent some diseases of the
esophagus.
The action of Nexium lasts a lot of time. The drugs must be used orally. Before
taking do not eat at least one hour before. Do not take more than one pill
per day. For better results take the pill every day at the same time.
Before you begin the treatment tell your doctor if you had diseases of the liver.
You must also verify if you are not pregnant because Nexium is the FDA pregnancy
category B.
If you have any unusual feelings (headache, constipation, cough, or diarrhea),
stop taking the drug and call your doctor immediately. You may have some allergic
reactions, such as eruptions, scab, tumor, giddiness, difficulty breathing.
Prevacid is a long-term drug used to treat the intestinal
cankers, erosive esophagitis, syndrome Zollinger-Ellison etc. The
drug should be taken orally every day, before meal. Don’t stop taking Prevacid
even if you feel well.
Be careful if you have some liver problems. Pregnancy is another
counter indication.

Prilosec is used to treat terebrating heartburn and problems
of the gullet. This drug can be given together with certain antibiotic (e.g.,
clarithromycin)
It’s a short-term drug; the treatment period is 14
days (each 24 hours). The course can be repeated, which should be also determined
by the doctor.
Precautions are: liver problem, other gastric problems (e.g., tumors), and any
allergy. Taking this drug during pregnancy should be approved by the doctor,
as well as during breast-feeding, because the substance passes with the breast
milk and can damage.
Possible side effects: constipation, stomachache, sickness, gas, loss
of the appetite, headache, or dizziness during first several days.
